About Me

My name is David, and I have been captivated with photography ever since I got my first DSLR camera at the age of 15.  Back in those days, we still used rolls of film, and I soon learned to develop and process my photographs in the darkroom.   Photography has since grown into a lifelong passion for me, and as technology has improved, it has opened up almost unlimited potential for creative expression.

I started Dream Weaver Photography in 2011 after many years working behind the camera on a variety of assignments from environmental portraiture, fashion, live events, corporate projects, product photography, music album covers, and fine art photography.  As a professional wedding photographer, you need to be able to utilise skills from all these different disciplines, and so I am fortunate to be able to draw upon this wide range of experience to create beautiful, timeless images under any conditions.

After graduating from the Photography Institute with a Diploma in Professional Photography, I went on to qualify as a Licentiate of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers.  Having now photographed more than 200 weddings over the last 10 years, my work has won both photographic and wedding industry awards of which I am unbelievably proud.  Learning is a never ending process, and I never allow myself to become complacent, ensuring that I invest regularly in training from world renowned wedding photographers such as Jerry Ghionis and others.

My style is very much influenced by my love of films, and this is reflected in the emotion and cinematic colour grading, that goes into my images.  I am not a fan of obviously posed images, but rather I am constantly seeking a perfect balance between beautifully composed images, and the natural emotion between two humans, whether that be the laughter, tears, joy, surprise, or even just those stolen moments of quiet intimacy.

At the moment, I am fortunate enough to live with my lovely wife and three utterly adorable cats in Dumbarton, near to stunning Loch Lomond, however I photograph weddings throughout the UK and internationally.

So let’s get to know each other over a coffee, let’s roll our sleeves up, and have a good old fashioned chat about what is important to you, and let me show you how beautiful you really are.
